BREAKING: Republican Found Dead - Police Release Chilling Details After Body Found

Tragic Discovery: Body of Oklahoma Republican Senate Candidate Barry Christian Found in Remote Area
Near Erick, Oklahoma — June 1, 2026 —
The discovery of a body inside a pickup truck in rural western Oklahoma has sent shockwaves through the local political community. The deceased has been identified as Barry Christian, the 54-year-old Republican candidate seeking election to the Oklahoma State Senate from District 38. Christian was a well-known supporter of President Donald Trump and had been actively campaigning in the region.
According to official statements from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, the 2024 charcoal gray Ram truck belonging to Christian was located just off Highway 30, south of Erick. The vehicle was positioned near a ravine in the vicinity of the Sandy Sanders Wildlife Management Area. The remote and rugged terrain of the area posed significant challenges for first responders and investigators, who were unable to immediately extract the body from the truck. This logistical difficulty led to a delay in the formal identification of the remains.
The area surrounding the discovery site has been designated a crime scene as authorities work to determine the circumstances that led to Christian’s death. In a development that has puzzled investigators and supporters alike, a large campaign sign featuring Barry Christian’s name and image was found discarded on the open prairie land not far from where the truck was recovered.
Friends and family last saw Christian behind the wheel of his Ram truck. When he failed to arrive at a previously arranged meeting, concerns grew rapidly, resulting in the issuance of a missing person report approximately two days prior to the discovery of his body.
In what is believed to be his final public message, Christian used Facebook to invite members of the community to join him at a meet-and-greet event during the Mangum Oklahoma Rattlesnake Festival. The post highlighted his desire to connect with residents and address pressing community concerns.
On the campaign trail, Christian presented himself as a steadfast conservative voice. His campaign website emphasized that he was the conservative choice for voters in District 38. He repeatedly pledged his support for President Donald Trump and vowed to fight for traditional conservative values if elected to the state senate.
The news has been particularly devastating for Christian’s loved ones. His daughter, Brooklyn, spoke on behalf of the family in a public statement.
“Our world is now upside down.”
She continued:
“We ask for prayers during this incredibly difficult time and that people treat my father’s legacy with the dignity and respect he deserves. We want to express our deepest gratitude to all those who assisted in the search efforts and offered their support to our family.”
In a separate announcement that has also saddened many in political circles, U.S. Representative Andy Barr, a Republican from Kentucky, confirmed the death of his longtime aide and campaign manager, Tatum Dale. Barr revealed that Dale had been a key member of his team for more than 15 years and had served in nearly every capacity within his congressional office over that period.
Barr paid tribute to Dale, calling her the heart and soul of his team and recognizing her as a dedicated servant leader who had made significant contributions to his work on behalf of constituents.
“She was the heart and soul of our team and a servant leader.”
These back-to-back reports of loss come at a time when Republican figures and their staff have faced a string of similar tragedies in recent months. Despite the gravity of the situation, authorities in Oklahoma have not yet disclosed any information about the cause of Barry Christian’s death. The investigation is continuing, and more details are expected to emerge as forensic analysis and inquiries progress.
EU inches toward ‘membership-lite’ plan for candidate countries
Europe must “keep its promises” to those that want to join, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal told POLITICO.

TIVAT, Montenegro — EU leaders are seeking consensus on a plan to offer candidate countries some of the economic and political benefits of membership while they navigate the years-long process of joining the bloc.
The proposal, drawn up by France and Germany, was presented ahead of a meeting of presidents and prime ministers in Montenegro on Friday. Paris and Berlin suggested offering Western Balkan candidate countries observer status in the EU institutions and limited access to the Single Market as they complete the accession process.
The plan “did not fall on deaf ears,” said Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal following talks in the coastal city of Tivat. “We should start the discussion at least because when you see the result of [everything] you are doing, hard work, reforms and so on, then your motivation to do it is much higher.”

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia have all applied to join the EU and have been waiting for years while the terms are discussed. The idea of giving these countries pre-accession benefits is seen as a way to ensure they don’t become disillusioned. According to two diplomats with knowledge of the talks who were granted anonymity to speak freely, leaders on Friday also agreed that the process of joining the bloc needs to become much faster.
European Council President António Costa was the first to publicly support discussion of the Franco-German plan. Following Friday’s talks, he told reporters that reform is on the table, suggesting “some kind of new omnibus on enlargement in order to move rapidly to conclude this merit-based process.”
“It looks positive,” said a senior EU official working on the issue. “We now need to see what specifically it could entail and see what others are saying and build consensus.”
Mixed bag
Montenegro, the host of Friday’s summit, is keen to avoid being on the list of countries that partial benefits are being considered for. Prime Minister Milojko Spajić said the country had “fulfilled all our obligations” to join the EU, and “will place ourselves in a position where we can enjoy all the rights and assume all the obligations” of full membership.
Some of those further behind in the process are keen to enjoy economic benefits as soon as possible. Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said in January that a phased approach to integration was a “good idea,” and that he was under no illusion that the EU’s founding members “are the adults in the family who make the important decisions.”
However, some of the others are worried the move could create second-class countries that have to take orders from Brussels without proper representation.

While the proposal is intended only for the Western Balkans, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the EU Vsevolod Chentsov warned against any situation where his country “is being offered everything except membership itself: access to the internal market, participation in EU programs, institutional engagement without voting rights and gradual inclusion in Union policies.”
“This creates a risk of forming two categories of candidate countries: Those for whom integration leads to membership, and those for whom integration risks becoming a substitute for membership,” he said. “Ukraine is not asking for privileged treatment but for equal application of agreed rules.”
According to Estonia’s Michal, “the goal should always be full membership.” There will always be “the expectation that Europe will keep its promises and when merits are met you will become a member,” he added.

Xavier Becerra advances in California governor race to replace Newsom
Jun. 5, 2026, 8:08 PM EDT By Julianne McShane
Xavier Becerra will advance to the general election in California’s gubernatorial race.
Becerra was barely leading the field when The Associated Press reported Friday he would go on to the general election. In second place with roughly 67% of the votes counted was former Fox News host Steve Hilton, trailed by billionaire businessman Tom Steyer.
The top two vote-getters will move on to the November general election.
Becerra previously served as the Health and Human Services secretary under President Joe Biden, was California attorney general from 2017 to 2021 and was a member of Congress for more than 20 years. He made a late-in-the-race surge in polling at 25% in late May, after coming in at 5% in early March.
The race to succeed term-limited Gov. Gavin Newsom became wide open after former Vice President and California Sen. Kamala Harris and the state’s senior senator, Alex Padilla, chose not to run. The race was further shaken when some candidates who were gaining popularity became embroiled in scandals. Former Rep. Eric Swalwell, viewed as a potential front-runner, dropped out after facing sexual misconduct allegations, while former Rep. Katie Porter came under scrutiny over allegations that she bullied staffers.

In a Truth Social post earlier Tuesday, Trump wrote that Hilton “will work with me and the Federal Government, the money will flow because I have confidence in him (but not any of the others!), and we will MAKE CALIFORNIA GREAT AGAIN.” California has not elected a Republican governor since Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was first elected in 2003.
The next governor of California will inherit a range of challenges, including an unstable state budget, an affordability crisis and the fallout from ongoing clashes with the Trump administration over immigration enforcement.

Sophie Cunningham turned heads off the court before dominating Angel Reese, Spurs-Knicks ticket price & Saban!
Sophie Cunningham finished with a +11 off the bench as Indiana dominated Atlanta on both ends of the floor

We did it! We made it to another Friday. To the first weekend of June. Whew. Everyone can exhale now.
And hey! For June, we have a pretty loaded weekend on tap.
NBA Finals (for those interested)
Stanley Cup
Super Regionals
Memorial tournament
Belmont Stakes
Honestly? It's not the worst lineup you'll see this summer. We're also experiencing a rare June cold front down here in Florida, which is nice. By "cold front," I mean it's 82 instead of 92, but that makes a big difference this time of year.
So, yeah, we're rolling right now. A lot of momentum. Let's pump out one final class this week and get on outta here.
Welcome to a Friday Nightcaps — the one where Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark dominate Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream, both on and off the court. You'll see.
What else? I've got the best of the rest from a loaded week of #content, Scottie ripping his caddie a new one after a water ball off the tee, and more Nick Saban talk in June.
HERE'S WHY NICK SABAN AND NOTRE DAME'S PETE BEVACQUA ARE WRONG ABOUT NIL RUINING COLLEGE FOOTBALL
OK, grab you a veggie burger for National Veggie Burger Day — throw it straight into the trash and get a Bubba Burger instead — and THEN settle in for a Friday 'Cap!

Caitlin and Sophie set the tone and take Game 1
Let's spin the wheel and start with ... the WNBA! That's right.
Look, I normally wouldn't do it, but when Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham and Angel Reese are all on the floor at the same time, I sort of have to. I'm nothing if not a sucker for the Google Algo.
The Fever won the first game of something called "The Commissioner's Cup" last night over Reese and the Dream. For those who don't know, that now makes Caitlin Clark 6-1 against Reese since the infamous finger-point in college, which I'm sure will delight most of you.
There were a few newsy moments from the game, most notably this little sequence in the first half that I reckon will now be used whenever an Angel Reese fan tries to say she's better than Caitlin Clark:
Lordy. Not great! Why is Angel Reese anywhere near the three-point line? Seems silly to me, but I admittedly ain't the biggest basketball fan.
The box score tells me that Reese finished with a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds), while Clark finished with 17 but shot just 6 of 17 from the floor. For those interested in the +/- stat, Reese was a -2, while Caitlin was a +2.
They all paled in comparison to Sophie, who finished with eight points off the bench and a +11 on the court.

That's our girl! Remember where you met Sophie Cunningham first, boys and girls. Right here, in these spaces, last year.
She became famous last summer when she defended Clark after a hard foul, and it's been off to the races ever since.
Perhaps we should've known she was primed for a big game when she got to the arena dressed like someone ready to bash some skulls.
