Chapter 15 - The Unshakable HorizonSpring 2039

The spring air in Austin was warm, sweet with the scent of blooming bluebonnets, and entirely clear of clouds.
On the wide, marble-paved terrace of my limestone penthouse, the morning sun cast bright, golden reflections across the water of Lady Bird Lake.
I sat in a comfortable wicker chair holding a cup of black coffee, watching the city wake up beneath me.
Behind me, the glass door slid open, and Rebecca stepped out onto the terrace, holding a fresh legal briefing and two cups of tea.
She set one down on the table, pulling up a chair beside mine.
"Ten years ago today, Emily," Rebecca noted softly, looking out over the stunning Austin skyline, "you called my office from a kitchen in River Oaks and told me to activate everything."
I took a slow sip of my coffee, feeling the warm, steady rhythm of my own heartbeat—a heart that had survived fire, betrayal, and tyranny to build something unbreakable.
"Ten years ago, Rebecca," I smiled, turning my head to meet her eyes, "I finally stopped playing by their rules and started writing my own."
Rebecca raised her teacup in a quiet, solemn toast under the brilliant morning sun.
"To the sovereign ledger," she said.

"To the sovereign ledger," I replied.
The coffee was hot. The sky was wide open. And the empire I had built in silence stood tall, unshakeable, and forever secure.
