No updates.
No news.
Marcus remained outside the operating room without moving.
Nathan finally emerged.
His surgical gown was stained with blood.
Marcus stood instantly.

"They're alive."
Marcus nearly collapsed from relief.

Nathan hesitated.
"The baby came early."
"Your daughter is in the neonatal intensive care unit."
Marcus nodded.
"And Khloe?"
Nathan's eyes softened.
"She lost a dangerous amount of blood."
"We controlled the bleeding."
"But recovery won't be easy."
Marcus entered Khloe's room.
She was unconscious.
Machines surrounded her.
He gently held her hand.

A tiny voice interrupted him.
