The jury deliberated for less than three hours.

She received a lengthy prison sentence for elder abuse, aggravated assault, fraud, and conspiracy.
Eric was sentenced shortly afterward for financial crimes and assisting the abuse.
Outside the courthouse, reporters surrounded Daniel.
"What do you want people to learn from this?"
Daniel answered without hesitation.
"Never assume abuse happens only in strangers' homes."
"Sometimes it hides behind beautiful smiles."
His mother slowly recovered through physical therapy.
Although she never regained full strength, she laughed again.
She enjoyed afternoons in the garden with Elena.
