Chapter 9 - The Prosecutor’s OfferSarah Sterling stepped forward, offering a professional, reassuring smile. She pulled a chair up beside Dr. Evans and opened her briefcase, laying out a series of financial ledgers, corporate ownership charts, and legal affidavits.

“Ms. Whittaker, I won’t beat around the bush,” Sarah began, her voice crisp and authoritative. “Your father’s empire is built on a house of cards, but untangling his illegal medical trials requires inside access. Whittaker Biotech holds airtight non-disclosure agreements with every physician and researcher on their payroll.”
I frowned, looking at the documents spread across the over-bed table. “What does that have to do with me? I was just a donor. I was kept in the dark about their research.”
“You were kept in the dark, yes,” Sarah agreed. “But legally, as a victim of corporate coercion and unauthorized medical experimentation under false pretenses, you hold standing as a primary plaintiff in a federal RICO case against Whittaker Enterprises.”
Agent Vance leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. “In plain English, Claire: your father’s corporate assets are currently frozen, but his legal team is trying to shield his personal holdings by transferring them into offshore trusts. If you step forward as the lead whistleblower and plaintiff in the federal indictment, we can seize every dime he owns—and dismantle Whittaker Biotech from the inside out.”
I stared at the papers. For my entire life, Richard Whittaker had held all the power. He had controlled the money, the family name, the social standing, and my very place in the world. He had treated me like a disposable object, culminating in the theft of my kidney and an attempt to turn my DNA into corporate property.
Now, the keys to his entire kingdom were sitting on a metal tray in front of me, and the federal government was asking if I wanted to turn the lock.
“What about Maya?” I asked quietly. “If I do this, what happens to her?”
Sarah Sterling looked at me with deep professional respect. “Maya will receive full immunity in exchange for her testimony against her mother and Richard. She’ll be placed in a protected recovery program. But make no mistake, Claire—your father will fight this with every breath and every dollar he has left.”
I looked at Dr. Evans, then down at my bandaged side. The physical pain was still there, but beneath it burned a fierce, unyielding resolve.

I reached out, picked up the silver pen resting beside the legal briefs, and looked directly at the federal prosecutor.
“Where do I sign?”
