Chapter 3 :

Within twelve minutes, the long, winding, ocean-side driveway of the estate was illuminated by the flashing red and blue lights of the Newport Police Department and emergency medical services. The blaring sirens cut through the crisp Rhode Island air, drawing the curious eyes of wealthy neighbors from their adjacent properties.

Darius remotely disengaged the front doors, allowing the paramedics and heavily armed officers to flood the grand foyer.

"Evelyn!"

A frantic, agonizing shout echoed from the front entrance. Julian had arrived. The billionaire CEO had been in a helicopter en route to Manhattan when Darius’s automated emergency distress signal hit his encrypted smartwatch. He had immediately ordered his pilot to turn around, landing on the estate’s private helipad just as the police arrived.

Julian, dressed in a sharp navy suit, sprinted across the marble floor, dropping to his knees beside the stretcher where paramedics were examining his weeping wife.

"I'm here, baby, I'm here," Julian sobbed, pressing his forehead against hers, his hands trembling as he gently touched her swollen belly. "Are you hurt? Is the baby okay?"

"He caught me, Julian," Evelyn wept, clutching her husband's suit jacket, her eyes darting toward the bald bodyguard standing stoically nearby. "Darius caught me. Cassandra... Julian, she pushed me over the railing."

Julian froze. The immense relief of seeing his wife alive was instantly vaporized by a blinding, apocalyptic rage. He slowly stood up, his eyes scanning the foyer until he found his sister.

Cassandra was being escorted down the grand staircase by two police officers. Her white silk blouse was rumpled, her hair disheveled, and her wrists were secured tightly behind her back in heavy steel handcuffs. Even in defeat, her toxic ego refused to surrender.

"Julian! Tell them to take these off me!" Cassandra shrieked, struggling against the officers' grip. "Your pathetic wife is a liar! She slipped! She's having a hormonal breakdown and making up stories to turn you against me! I am your flesh and blood!"

Julian didn't yell. He didn't scream. He walked slowly toward the bottom of the staircase, his face a mask of absolute, unyielding disgust.

"You hacked my servers, Cassandra," Julian said, his voice deadly quiet. "You manipulated the staff schedules. You thought you were brilliant. But you underestimated how far I would go to protect my family."

Julian turned to Darius. "Show them."

Darius pulled a sleek, military-grade tablet from his briefcase. He tapped the screen and handed it to the lead Newport detective. "The suspect disabled the main household cameras. However, per my contract, I installed a secondary, closed-loop micro-surveillance system powered by an independent battery array. It records directly to a secure cloud server."

The detective looked at the screen. The high-definition 4K footage was undeniable. It clearly showed Evelyn standing by the railing, admiring the chandelier. It showed Cassandra sneaking up behind her with a look of pure, unadulterated malice. And it showed Cassandra raising her hands and violently, intentionally shoving the pregnant woman over the edge.

Cassandra stared at the tablet, the blood draining completely from her face. Her lips parted, but no sound came out. The definitive, undeniable proof of her monstrous crime was playing on a loop, exposing her toxic jealousy to the world.

"Take this piece of garbage out of my house," Julian whispered, turning his back on his sister entirely. "And contact the District Attorney. I want her charged with attempted murder of a pregnant woman. I want maximum sentencing."

As the police dragged the screaming, humiliated heiress out the front doors, the pristine illusion of her untouchable wealth was permanently destroyed.
