Chapter 20 - The Unshakable FoundationOctober 2035

The autumn air over Austin was crisp, clear, and fragrant with the scent of falling oak leaves and blooming mountain laurel.
On the wide stone steps of the Westbridge administrative building, I stood holding a fresh cup of coffee, watching the golden morning sunlight wash across the campus quad.
My phone buzzed quietly in the pocket of my wool coat.
I pulled it out to find a secure message from Special Agent Laura Mitchell:“Just received final administrative closure on the Bennett-Vance asset forfeiture liquidation. All remaining funds have been successfully redirected to the national municipal scholarship recovery fund. The books are officially balanced, Emily.”
I smiled, locked my phone, and slipped it back into my pocket.
There were no more forged ledgers. No more hidden accounts. No more living under a roof built on stolen foundations.
Everything I had was real. Everything I owned was earned. And every single brick of the life I had built stood strong, clear, and completely unbreakable.
Professor Whitmore walked up beside me, handing me a fresh stack of doctoral thesis proposals from our incoming graduate candidates.
"Ready for another audit, Dean Bennett?" he asked with a warm grin.
May you like
I looked down at the proposals, then back up at the bright, limitless horizon stretching out across the Texas sky.
"Always, Professor," I said, squaring my shoulders and walking forward into the light. "Let's open the books."
