The Heiress in the Red Gown Thought She Ruled the Ballroom, Until the Waitress She Assaulted Revealed the Owner’s Secret Shadow

Chapter 1: The Shattered Crystal of Entitlement

The Grand Sterling Ballroom was a sea of shimmering sequins, velvet tuxedos, and the suffocating scent of expensive perfume. It was the annual Charity Gala, an event where the elite of the city gathered to pat themselves on the back while sipping vintage champagne. At the center of the room, near the towering, multi-tiered crystal chandelier, the atmosphere took a jagged, violent turn.

Vanessa Thorne, a woman whose lineage was as long as her temper was short, stood in a crimson designer gown that seemed to bleed against the stark white marble. At her feet sat Mrs. Gable, a fragile woman in a wheelchair who had accidentally brushed a drop of sparkling water onto Vanessa’s hem.

"You clumsy, decrepit fool," Vanessa sneered, her voice cutting through the orchestra's melody like a serrated blade. She raised her glass, the liquid within sloshing dangerously close to the old woman’s frail hands.

"I am so sorry, Miss Thorne," Mrs. Gable whispered, her eyes brimming with tears.

"I don't care about your apologies. I care about my dress," Vanessa spat. She swung her arm back, intent on drenching the elderly woman in cheap champagne to 'balance the scales.'

But the liquid never reached its target. Clara, a young waitress who had been serving drinks nearby, lunged forward. She caught the glass with her hand, but the force of Vanessa’s swing sent them both stumbling. Crystal shattered against the floor, a chaotic, crystalline explosion that sent guests gasping.

Clara stood tall, despite the way her hands trembled. "She didn't deserve that," she said, her voice small but infused with a steel-tipped defiance.

Vanessa recoiled, clutching her hand where the glass had grazed her skin. She looked at the red smear of blood—not hers, but the remnants of the drink—and her face contorted into a mask of pure, unadulterated fury. "You just made a very expensive mistake, you little servant," she hissed. "Do you have any idea who I am?"
