CHAPTER 4: THE Scar BELOW THE COLLARBONES

Eleanor froze. Her eyes darted down to my chest, locking onto the faint, jagged scar just below my collarbone—a mark I had kept hidden beneath high necklines until today.

"No," Eleanor whispered, taking a terrified step back against a marble pillar. "You're... you're Arthur Vance's daughter."

The terrace went dead silent.

Arthur Vance was Julian’s late uncle—the billionaire founder of the Vance Logistics Empire who had died eight years ago under mysterious circumstances, leaving his entire fortune to Eleanor and Julian after his original will mysteriously vanished.

"He was my father," I said, my voice ringing out clearly for every guest to hear. "And I didn't marry you for your money, Julian. I came to take back what you stole when you murdered him."

Julian turned to his mother in horror. "Mother... what is she talking about?! Uncle Arthur died of a heart attack!"

"Did he?" I pulled a sleek, black encrypted flash drive from the hidden pocket of my dress. "Because the buried toxicology report from your private physician says otherwise. And the unedited, original will leaving everything to his rightful daughter drops online in three minutes."

Eleanor’s face twisted into something feral. "Get that drive!" she shrieked to the security guards flanking the patio. "Seize her!"
