CHAPTER 10: REBUILDING FROM ASHES

With Eleanor and Julian locked away, my father and I set to work restructuring Vance Logistics from the ground up.

We stripped away the corrupt shell divisions, paid off every small vendor Julian had tried to cheat, and established the Arthur & Clara Vance Foundation—an organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic financial abuse and corporate fraud gain free legal representation.

I moved back into the small, sunlit house my father had built for me years ago. The modern security systems were upgraded, but the garden remained full of white lilies and citrus trees—a reminder of where I came from.

One morning, while sitting on the porch drinking tea, my father walked up the wooden steps carrying two blueprints under his arm.

"The new regional logistics center in Seattle just got approved," Arthur said, laying the plans out on the wooden table. "The board wants to know who's going to head the architecture and design team."

I looked at the blueprints, then up at my father, a genuine smile filling my face.

"I think I know a very capable freelance designer," I said.
