Chapter 10 - The HorizonTwo days later, the rain had cleared over London, leaving a crisp, brilliant blue sky reflecting off the waters of the Thames.

Zara stood on the private executive apron at Farnborough Airport, watching two mechanics in white Coleman Aerospace jumpsuits perform a final pre-flight check on a sleek, experimental hybrid-electric aircraft parked near the hangar.
Her phone chimed in her pocket.
It was a notification from the corporate flight portal:
FLIGHT CONFIRMED: EGLF -> KTEB
AIRCRAFT: G700 (N1-MARCUS)
PASSENGER: COLEMAN/ZARA MS
SEAT: 1A
Zara smiled, tapping her screen to close the app.
Beside her, Uncle Thomas walked up, carrying two hot cups of cocoa from the private terminal lounge. He handed one to her.
“Ready to head back to New York?” Thomas asked.
“Ready,” Zara nodded, taking a sip of the warm cocoa.
Down the apron, a sleek black town car pulled up near the hangar gates. The rear door opened, and a man in a rumpled suit stepped out, holding a worn briefcase, looking nervously toward the security office.
It was Richard Bennett.
He was accompanied by a low-level regional liquidation officer, carrying paper files to complete the asset transfer of his former logistics facility in Farnborough. He looked thin, tired, his hair unkempt, his old posture completely broken.
As he walked toward the administration building, he glanced across the tarmac and froze.
He saw the sleek Gulfstream sitting under the bright morning sun.
He saw the four armed private security officers standing at attention near the boarding stairs.
And standing near the nose of the aircraft, drinking hot chocolate in a simple charcoal sweater and dark trousers, was the fourteen-year-old girl from Flight 212.
Zara met his gaze across the open tarmac for three quiet seconds.
She didn't glare. She didn't wave. She simply looked at him with the same cool, unbothered calm she had maintained in Seat 2A, then turned away to speak with her uncle.
Richard Bennett lowered his eyes, tightened his grip on his battered briefcase, and walked silently into the liquidation office.

Zara walked up the boarding stairs of the Gulfstream, stepped into the quiet luxury of the cabin, and took her seat by the window.
The jet engines spooled up into a smooth, powerful hum, carrying her effortlessly up into the endless blue sky, far above the noise below.
