Chapter 15 - The Sovereign HorizonSeptember 2033

The morning sun over Houston was brilliant, warm, and entirely unobstructed by clouds.

I stood on the wide outdoor terrace of my downtown penthouse apartment, holding a cup of black coffee, looking out over the sprawling, pulsing expanse of the city skyline.

My phone chimed softly on the patio table beside me.

I picked it up and saw an automated notification from Vanguard Logistics' legal compliance portal:“Vanguard Educational & Legal Recovery Trust — Q3 Milestone Reached: Over 500 young adults successfully emancipated from domestic financial abuse and provided with independent legal representation.”

Five hundred people who would never have to sit at a dinner table and beg for their own money. Five hundred people who learned that paperwork, truth, and resilience are stronger than any intimidation.

Behind me, the glass door slid open, and Lily stepped out onto the terrace, wearing a sharp business suit, holding her briefcase and a travel mug of tea. She was interning with our corporate compliance division for her fall semester.

"Ready for the morning executive briefing, CEO?" Lily asked with a bright, confident smile.

I locked my phone, slipped it into my pocket, and turned around to look at my sister—at the brilliant, independent young woman who had stood between me and our father with a glowing red recording button six years ago.

"Always, Director," I smiled, putting my arm around her shoulders as we walked back inside toward the sunlight. "Let's go run the world."
