Chapter 4 - The Unseen Sovereign“Three months ago,” Victor’s recorded voice echoed clearly over the stunned crowd, “my internal security team flagged a series of unauthorized offshore transfers originating from the DeLuca Logistics core treasury account. Totaling two hundred and forty million dollars.”

Victor smiled—a cold, terrifying expression.

“Dominic believed he was clever. He thought my failing health meant my eyes were closed. He and Miss Mercer established a ghost shell company in the Cayman Islands, intending to drain the treasury dry the moment my pulse ceased, frame Elena for the missing funds, and use my money to launch their own private venture.”

Dominic spun toward the altar, shouting wildly at the cathedral tech booth. “Turn it off! Shut the power down! Who is running this tape?!”

No one moved. The tech team at the back of the church sat frozen, their hands completely off the mixing consoles. The system had been hardwired and remote-locked from an external server.

“However,” Victor’s video continued smoothly, “Dominic made one fatal miscalculation. He assumed the DeLuca empire belonged to him simply because he carried my surname. He forgot that a real empire is built on vision, loyalty, and blood—things he has never possessed.”

Victor leaned back in his leather armchair on screen, gesturing toward the camera.

“The two hundred and forty million dollars you stole, Dominic, did not come from the DeLuca treasury. I diverted your access six months ago. You have been stealing directly from an escrow account held by our parent umbrella corporation—Vale Global Holdings.”

A heavy, confused hush fell over the room.

Vale Global Holdings.

The name floated through the cathedral like a thunderclap. Every titan of industry in the pews knew the name. Vale Global was the terrifying, shadowy titan of global infrastructure, logistics, and hospitality—an international octopus that owned airlines, commercial ports, and luxury hotel chains across five continents. The DeLuca Conglomerate was merely one of its subsidiary branches.

“And as the sole principal shareholder of Vale Global knows,” Victor said with a quiet chuckle, “the penalty for stealing from the Vale family is absolute financial and legal ruin.”

The recording paused on screen, locking on Victor’s serene, knowing face.

Suddenly, the massive iron side doors of the cathedral opened with a dull, heavy thud.

The sharp, synchronized click of polished leather shoes echoed against the stone floor as a dozen men in crisp, dark-tailored suits entered the cathedral. They moved with military precision, instantly surrounding the perimeter of the front pews and blocking every exit.

Leading them was a tall, silver-haired man in a bespoke charcoal trench coat. His presence was so overwhelming, so naturally commanding, that even the security guards stepped back in deference.

It was Charles Vale.

The legendary, reclusive founder of Vale Holdings—a man whose net worth was rarely printed because he owned the banks that printed the money. A man who had not made a public appearance in Chicago in over a decade.

Dominic swallowed hard, his throat dry as bone. “Mr... Mr. Vale? What are you doing here?”

Charles Vale didn't answer Dominic. He didn't even look at him.

He walked straight past the trembling husband, straight past the sobbing woman on the floor, and stopped directly in front of me.
