Chapter 14 - The GroundbreakingSix months later, the spring sun shone brightly over the grand opening of the Robert & Frances Weber Community Engineering Center—a five-million-dollar vocational facility funded jointly by Weber Engineering and the city's urban development grant.

The center was designed to provide free technical training, drafting certifications, and apprenticeship placements for underprivileged youth across the region.
A crowd of three hundred people—city officials, local families, students, and news crews—gathered in the sunlit courtyard.
Frances stood on the main stage beside the Mayor, wearing a dark navy suit. Beside her stood Joselyn, who had managed the entire media roll-out and public relations campaign for the project, securing national coverage in two major architectural journals.
"Today," the Mayor announced into the microphone, "we celebrate not just a new building, but a legacy of unbreakable integrity. I am honored to invite Mrs. Frances Weber and her daughter, Joselyn Weber, to cut the ribbon."
The crowd erupted into enthusiastic applause.
Frances and Joselyn stepped forward together, each holding one side of a pair of large ceremonial brass scissors. They looked at each other, their hands overlapping on the handles.
"Together, Mom?" Joselyn whispered, her eyes shining with warmth.
"Together, sweetheart," Frances smiled.
