Chapter 15 - The Legacy UnbrokenThat evening, the sun set over the pine hills in brilliant shades of violet, crimson, and gold, painting the sky in breathless beauty.

Back at the cabin-style house, the warm amber lights of the porch illuminated the quiet wooden deck.

Frances sat in her favorite rocking chair, holding a warm cup of chamomile tea, listening to the gentle rustle of the wind through the tall pines.

The door opened softly, and Joselyn stepped out onto the porch, wearing a comfortable knit sweater, carrying a leather-bound folder. She sat down on the wooden bench beside her mother, leaning her head gently against Frances’s shoulder.

"The evening news just aired the coverage of the opening, Mom," Joselyn said softly. "The student enrollment for the fall semester is already at full capacity."

Frances set her tea mug down, reaching over to wrap her arm around Joselyn’s shoulders, pulling her close.

"Your father would have loved today, Joselyn," Frances murmured, looking up at the stars beginning to twinkle in the vast indigo sky.

"He would have loved seeing you shine, Mom," Joselyn replied, her voice soft and full of peace. "And he would have been glad to know that we came home to each other."

Frances looked down at her chest, where Robert’s gold wedding band hung lightly from its chain. The ring didn't feel like a reminder of loss anymore; it felt like a seal of victory—a testament to a family that had faced the dark, broken through the shadows, and built a life that no lie could ever destroy.

They sat together on the porch in the quiet warmth of the mountain night, held tightly in the unbroken circle of their love, ready for every tomorrow that lay ahead.
