Chapter 15 - The Unshakable FoundationSpring 2029

The golden light of late April turned the Texas sky into a vibrant canvas of rose, amber, and clear turquoise.
On the high outdoor terrace of my Montrose penthouse, a cool evening breeze rustled through potted jasmine and cedar trees.
I stood near the glass perimeter railing, holding a glass of sparkling water, looking out over the sparkling expanse of the Houston skyline. The distant, peaceful hum of city traffic drifted up from below, steady and harmonious.
Behind me, the glass door slid open, and Cole Voss stepped out onto the terrace, holding two small plates of dinner.
"The foundation's annual audit just finalized, Tessa," Cole said with a gentle, triumphant smile. "The endowment is fully funded through 2035, and we've expanded mobile intake coverage into two neighboring counties."
I looked out over the city—at the glowing windows of Hermann Memorial Hospital, at the distant lights of the emergency shelter, and at the wide, dark horizon stretching toward the coast.
The cold pavement was gone. The fake family was turned to dust. The conspirators were locked away behind heavy steel doors.
Everything I had was real. Everything I owned was earned. And every brick of the life I had built stood strong, clear, and completely unbreakable.
I turned to Cole, my posture relaxed, strong, and completely centered.
"Thank you, Cole," I said softly.

Cole smiled, raising his glass in a quiet, solemn toast under the warm evening stars. "To the woman who owns her life."
The spring wind swept past the terrace railing, carrying the sweet scent of jasmine into the clear air, while I stood high above the city—unbroken, unshakeable, and forever warm in the sovereign light of my own making.
