Chapter 19 - The Garden at MontroseThe spring of 2031 brought warm, golden sunlight and blooming gardenias to the terrace of my Montrose home.

The iron balcony gates stood open to the morning breeze. The porch steps—where fear had once loomed—were now lined with bright terra-cotta pots filled with yellow daffodils, white jasmine, and sweet lavender.
I sat in a comfortable wicker chair on the sunlit deck, a warm mug of coffee resting in my hands, watching the morning birds flutter through the oak trees.
My phone chimed softly on the side table—an automated administrative notification from the Texas Secretary of State confirming that the former Vance estate properties had completed their final court-ordered public receivership transfers, with every remaining cent allocated to public restitution and victim advocacy funds.
I didn't open the detail link. I tapped the screen clear, set the phone face-down on the table, and took a long, peaceful breath of the fresh spring air.
The fake corporations were gone. The offshore accounts were liquidated. The prison doors were locked. And the life I had built stood solid, warm, and completely unbroken.
Cole walked out onto the terrace, carrying a plate of fresh fruit and warm pastries, sitting down in the chair beside mine.
"Beautiful morning, Tessa," he smiled, taking my hand in his.
May you like
I looked at him, my heart swelling with a deep, radiant peace that filled every corner of my soul.
"It's the most beautiful morning in the world, Cole," I whispered.
