Chapter 19 - The Crown of IronThree months later, on the sun-drenched terrace of the Sterling Estate in Denver, three hundred corporate executives, international shipping partners, and industry leaders gathered for the annual Sterling Maritime Global Summit.

The grand pavilion was decorated in ivory linen, fresh white roses, and crystal glassware.

My father stepped up to the crystal podium at the front of the terrace, holding a glass of champagne. The chatter of the crowd quieted down instantly as everyone turned to face Alvin Sterling.

"Forty years ago, I built Sterling Maritime on a foundation of hard work and relentless determination," Dad told the assembled crowd, his deep voice carrying clearly through the crisp mountain air. "I believed that strength was built by standing firm against every storm."

He turned his eyes toward the side of the stage, where I stood wearing a crisp, tailored emerald-green silk suit, holding four-month-old Victoria in my arms.

"But true strength," my father continued, his voice ringing with profound pride, "is not just about surviving the storm. It is about protecting the future, reclaiming what is right, and never backing down in the face of betrayal."

He raised his glass high toward me.

"Today, I officially step down as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sterling Maritime," my father announced. "And I hand the reins of this empire to the bravest person I know—my daughter, Clara Sterling."

The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, standing up to honor the new leader of the global enterprise. I walked up to the podium, holding my daughter close, looking out at the cheering crowd with a calm, radiant confidence.

I was no longer just Alvin Sterling's daughter. I was the sovereign leader of my own destiny.
