Chapter 20 - The Sovereign's PeaceThat evening, after the last guests had departed and the estate had settled into a quiet, serene twilight, I sat on the wide stone terrace overlooking the valley.

The evening air was sweet with the scent of blooming jasmine and fresh grass.

I sat in a comfortable rocking chair, cradling little Victoria against my chest as she fell fast asleep, her soft breath rising and falling in a rhythmic, peaceful cadence. On the small wooden table beside me sat a framed photograph of my father holding Victoria on the day she was born.

My father walked out onto the terrace, carrying two cups of hot chamomile tea. He handed one to me and sat down in the chair beside mine, looking out at the golden sunset painting the sky in shades of crimson and violet.

"Are you ready for tomorrow's board meeting in Singapore, Clara?" Dad asked softly, a warm, affectionate smile touching his eyes. "The Asian directors are eager to review your new green-energy fleet initiative."

I looked down at my sleeping daughter, touching her tiny cheek with the tip of my finger, then looked out at the vast, endless horizon stretching out before us—a world where we were safe, where we were whole, and where no one would ever intimidate or silence us again.

"I'm ready, Dad," I said, a clear, beautiful smile lighting up my face. "Tell them the CEO of Sterling Maritime has arrived."

I took a deep, clean breath of the crisp night air, held my daughter tight against my heart, and stepped peacefully forward into the bright, unbreakable future we had won.

THE END
