Chapter 14 - The Greenwich AuctionThe foreclosure auction of the Whitmore estate drew dozens of real estate developers, media reporters, and curious onlookers to the sprawling iron gates in Greenwich.

Raymond stood near the edge of the driveway, wearing a scuffed suit, watching as strangers browsed through the marble foyer where his family had entertained high society for generations. Everything was being sold to cover his millions in outstanding bank debt.

A sleek silver sedan pulled up the long driveway, stopping near the front steps.

The rear door opened, and Clara stepped out onto the gravel driveway. She wore a tailored white linen suit, her auburn hair falling gracefully over her shoulders, radiating health, poise, and quiet power.

Raymond swallowed hard, taking an hesitant step forward. "Clara..."

She stopped a few feet away from him, her expression calm and unreadable.

"Are you here to watch me lose everything?" Raymond asked bitterly, his voice trembling with shame.

"No, Raymond," Clara replied softly. "I bought the property."

Raymond blinked in disbelief. "What?"

"Ellison-Bell purchased the mortgage from the bank this morning," Clara explained calmly. "I bought the estate, the grounds, and the surrounding land."

Raymond stared at her, crushed by the weight of the irony. The mansion where Margaret had tormented Clara for being 'barren' and 'worthless' now belonged entirely to the woman they had thrown into the cold.

"What are you going to do with it?" Raymond whispered.

"I’m demolishing the main house," Clara said, her voice steady and clear. "I'm converting the entire twenty acres into the Ellison Sanctuary for Women and Children—a private haven for mothers fleeing domestic neglect and financial abuse."

Raymond closed his eyes, unable to speak as tears streamed down his sunken cheeks.
