Chapter 13 - The Fall of Moretti

At 2:00 AM, Giovanni led an elite strike team to Don Moretti’s private estate in Lake Forest.
The operation was silent, swift, and absolute.
By 4:00 AM, the Moretti family’s stronghold had been completely dismantled. Don Moretti and his daughter Lucia were captured attempting to flee to a private jet at O'Hare airport.
In a cold, illuminated warehouse near the river, Don Moretti sat tied to an iron chair, bleeding from his shoulder, while Lucia wept in handcuffs nearby.
Giovanni walked into the warehouse, tossing a thick legal folder onto the table in front of them.
"Your syndicate is finished, Moretti," Giovanni said calmly. "Every shipping contract, every asset, every property you owned has been seized by federal authorities through evidence I provided to the FBI an hour ago."
Don Moretti looked up with bloodshot eyes, spitting blood onto the floor. "You sold out the underworld to the feds, Fierro?! You're a traitor!"
"I am a father and a husband," Giovanni corrected smoothly, checking his gold watch. "The federal marshals will be here in three minutes. You and your daughter will spend the rest of your lives in federal supermax prisons."

Lucia screamed in agony as the sound of federal sirens echoed outside the warehouse.
Giovanni turned his back on them, walking out into the cool morning air, stepping into his SUV to return home to the woman he loved.
