Chapter 10 - The WarrantBy 8:00 AM the following morning, the sun broke through the storm clouds over the city, exposing the rubble of the Cole family's reputation.

I woke up in the master bedroom of the Highpoint Lake House, surrounded by white linen, light pine walls, and the quiet sound of gentle waves lapping against the private dock outside. The pain in my back had subsided into a dull, manageable ache thanks to Dr. Rossi's treatment.
I put on a soft cashmere robe and walked slowly down the wide wooden staircase into the open-concept kitchen.
All five of my brothers were present.
Gabriel was seated at the island counter with three laptops open before him, typing at an impossible speed. Luca was on a secure satellite phone with a federal prosecutor. Nico was cleaning a breakdown rifle near the gun safe by the door, while Matteo poured fresh coffee into six ceramic mugs.
Dominic stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, holding a morning newspaper.
When I entered, all five of them stopped what they were doing and looked at me.
"Good morning, Elena," Dominic said, setting the paper down on the counter.
I looked at the front page of the Denver Daily. A massive black-and-white headline stared back at me:
COLE CONSTRUCTION EMPIRE COLLAPSES AMID FEDERAL FRAUD & HUMAN RIGHTS INVESTIGATION
CEO ADRIAN COLE ARRESTED AT PRIVATE RESIDENCE; PARENTS FACING BANKRUPTCY
Beside the headline was a clear mugshot of Adrian, his hair messy, his eyes wide with shock as he was led out of his mansion in handcuffs by federal marshals.
"He tried to post bail three hours ago," Luca said, taking a sip of his coffee. "The judge set it at fifty million dollars, cash only, based on the flight risk assessment Gabriel submitted to the court. His family couldn't even raise five hundred thousand."
Gabriel looked up from his screens, a cold satisfaction in his voice. "We acquired sixty percent of Cole Enterprises stock at pennies on the dollar when the market opened twenty minutes ago. As of right now, Elena, you are the majority shareholder of your ex-husband's company."
I stood by the counter, holding the warm mug of coffee Matteo handed me, looking at the image of the man who had tried to break me.
"What about Vanessa Hart?" I asked quietly.
Nico grinned from the corner, pulling a small black folder from his jacket. "Her father’s firm filed for Chapter 11 liquidation at dawn. Every asset they owned has been attached to the civil suit Luca filed on your behalf. By noon today, she won't even own that silver dress."
I took a slow sip of coffee, feeling the warm liquid settle in my chest, feeling the quiet, absolute strength of the five men surrounding me.

"Good," I said softly. "Now let's talk about the divorce."
