Chapter 11 - The ReclaimingThree weeks after the night of the birthday party, the sleek glass-and-steel skyscraper housing the headquarters of Cole Enterprises stood under a heavy grey sky. But the name on the front lobby wall was no longer the same.

Before the opening bell of the market, crew members removed the brass lettering of the old regime, replacing it with bold, polished steel: MORETTI GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT.

Inside the top-floor executive boardroom, twenty high-ranking board members, senior project directors, and legal consultants sat in tense silence.

The double doors swung open.

I walked into the room wearing a tailored white silk suit, my dark hair pulled back into a immaculate bun, my posture straight and commanding. Beside me walked Luca carrying two leather litigation satchels, while Matteo stood stationed by the door, an imposing presence that instantly silenced any whisper in the room.

I took my seat at the head of the conference table—the exact seat Richard Cole had occupied for thirty years.

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen," I said, my voice calm, smooth, and echoing off the glass walls. "For those who do not know me, I am Elena Moretti, majority owner and newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of this firm."

A senior VP, Arthur Sterling—a long-time crony of Richard Cole—cleared his throat nervously. "Mrs. Cole... excuse me, Ms. Moretti... the market is in a panic. The company's credit rating was downgraded three notches yesterday. The banks are demanding immediate restructuring plans following the arrest of Adrian and Richard."

I opened a sleek tablet in front of me.

"The panic ends today, Mr. Sterling," I replied. "My brother Gabriel has injected two hundred million dollars in private liquidity through Moretti Holdings. All outstanding vendor debts for the harbor bridge project are paid in full as of eight o'clock this morning."

I looked around the table, meeting the eye of every executive.

"Every executive who turned a blind eye to Richard’s tax evasion and Adrian’s structural material fraud will submit their resignation by noon today. If you resign now, my legal team will not pursue personal civil damages. If you refuse..." I nodded toward Luca, "...Mr. Moretti will ensure federal prosecutors include your name on the next round of grand jury indictments."

Within ten minutes, twelve executives silently pulled pens from their jackets, signed prepared resignation letters, and exited the room without saying a word.

The old regime was dead. The reclamation had begun.
