Chapter 19 - The SanctuaryTwo years passed.

On a warm spring morning, Arthur, Lily, and a team of architects stood in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood in central Seattle.
Before them stood a newly completed four-story brick building surrounded by green gardens, play structures, and bright sunlit windows. Over the entrance, carved into smooth granite stone, were the words: Clara’s Haven.
It was the very site where the dilapidated, cold tenement building had once stood—the place where Clara had spent her final days. Arthur had purchased the land, demolished the old structure, and built a state-of-the-art sanctuary offering free housing, medical care, and job training for homeless mothers and their children.
As the ribbon was cut, dozens of young mothers and children walked through the open double doors, greeted by warm meals, soft beds, and caring staff.
Lily walked into the central courtyard, where a bronze statue of her mother stood near a flowing stone fountain. Clara’s likeness was depicted holding a open book, her warm smile forever captured in the light.
Lily reached into her pocket and pulled out the silver heart locket. She gently unclasped the chain and placed the locket into a small, secure glass display inset at the base of the statue, sealing it permanently as part of her mother’s memorial.

"You don't have to carry the burden anymore, Mommy," Lily whispered softly, touching the bronze stone. "Everyone knows who you were now."
Arthur stepped up beside her, wrapping his arm around his granddaughter's shoulders. "She would be so proud of you, Lily. You saved us all."
