Chapter 11 - The Truth About the Wealth

Chloe stared at Julian, horror dawning in her eyes. "Julian... why are your cards declining? You told me you were a billionaire."

"I am!" Julian yelled frantically, pulling out his cell phone and dialing his personal lawyer, sweating despite the freezing rain.

The lawyer picked up on the third ring. "Julian, I was just about to call you. The Sterling Trust just served us with a financial blockade."

"Fix it!" Julian roared. "They locked me out! Unfreeze my accounts!"

"I can't, Julian," the lawyer's voice was grave. "I warned you about that prenup. I warned you about the corporate structure. You didn't listen. Elena’s family owns every brick of that hotel. The money in 'your' accounts was technically company dividends. When she fired you, the access vanished."

"What about my personal savings?" Julian gasped.

"You spent it," the lawyer sighed. "On the yachts. On the cars. On the jewelry for your mistress. You leveraged everything against the company's valuation. Julian... you are completely bankrupt."

The phone slipped from Julian’s hand, clattering onto the wet concrete. He was broke.
