Chapter 3 - The Ghost in the System

Down in the subterranean server rooms of the Elysium Resort, the IT department was in a state of absolute chaos. The Chief Technology Officer, a man who had reported to Julian for five years, was staring pale-faced at his monitors.

"Sir," a junior tech yelled over the hum of the servers. "The master override is coming from offshore! Someone is locking us out of the mainframe!"

"It's not an override," the CTO whispered, reading the legal command codes scrolling across his screen. "It's the actual owners."

For years, everyone assumed Julian owned the resort. But the corporate structure was a Russian nesting doll of LLCs. Now, the top doll had been opened. A company called Sterling Global Trust was asserting absolute control.

Within sixty seconds, every digital footprint of Julian was erased. His keycards were invalidated. His corporate email was deleted. His access to the security cameras, the financial ledgers, and the banking portals was instantly revoked.

Julian wasn't just fired. Digitally, he had ceased to exist within the company. And up in the penthouse, he was completely blind to the guillotine falling on his neck.
