Chapter 12 - The Queen Arrives

Before Julian could even process the magnitude of his ruin, a pair of blinding headlights cut through the rain. The black Maybach pulled up to the curb, right where Julian and Chloe were standing.

The window slowly rolled down.

I sat in the plush leather seat, sipping a glass of hot tea, completely dry and perfectly composed. I looked down at the man who had betrayed me, finding no love left in my heart—only cold, hard justice.

"Elena!" Julian lunged toward the car, but Vance, my security chief, stepped out and shoved him back onto the pavement with one massive hand.

"Please, Elena," Julian begged, his arrogance completely gone, replaced by pathetic desperation. "This is a misunderstanding. We can talk about this! Nine years, Elena! You can't just throw me out on the street!"

"You did it to me two hours ago, Julian," I said smoothly, my voice cutting through the sound of the rain. "The only difference is, I owned the street you threw me onto. You own nothing."
