The return to the Elysium Resort was a coronation.
When my Maybach pulled up to the grand entrance, the red carpet had been rolled out. Marcus Hayes, the General Manager, stood at attention, surrounded by the entire staff of the hotel—from the bellhops to the executive chefs.
As I stepped out of the car, wearing a stunning white power suit and my grandmother’s emerald pendant, the staff erupted into applause. They weren't clapping because they were ordered to; they were clapping because the tyrant was gone, and the true creator of their home had returned.
I smiled, shaking Marcus’s hand. "It's good to be home."
