Chapter 7 - The Paper Trail

Julian stared at the folder as if it were a venomous snake. "Vacate? Are you out of your mind? I own this hotel! I own this entire company! You are fired, Hayes. All of you are fired!"
Hayes calmly opened the folder and held up a heavily notarized document. "You own nothing, Julian. You never did."
Julian’s eyes scanned the legal jargon. He saw the words Sterling Global Trust. He saw my name, Elena Sterling, listed as the sole proprietor, majority shareholder, and ultimate beneficiary of the entire international resort group.
"No," Julian whispered, the blood draining from his face. "No, this is a forgery. My lawyers set up the LLCs! I am the CEO!"
"You were the CEO of a management company," Hayes corrected him, enjoying every second. "A management company that was hired by the Sterling Trust. Your contract had a morality clause, which you breached tonight in the lobby. Elena has terminated your contract. You are currently trespassing on private property."

Chloe walked up behind Julian, clutching her arms in the cold. "Julian? What's going on? Who are these people?"
"Three minutes, Julian," Hayes warned, stepping aside to let the security guards step forward. "Tick-tock."
