Chapter 13 - The RebirthWith the final threats from their pasts erased, the weeks leading up to the wedding passed in a blur of peaceful luxury and quiet joy.

Harper had refused to allow Gabriel to spend millions on a massive, grand spectacle for their wedding. She didn't want political figures, high-society elites, or underworld associates filling the pews. She wanted intimacy, truth, and genuine love.
Gabriel, devoted to giving her whatever she desired, agreed without a second thought.
On a crisp, sunny afternoon in mid-January, the wedding took place in the grand conservatory at the back of the Beacon Hill estate. Glass walls looked out onto a snow-covered garden, while the inside was transformed into a warm paradise of white roses, soft candlelight, and classical string music.
There were only twelve guests in attendance: Noah, Marcus, the mansion’s senior domestic staff who had become like family, and a few trusted legal advisors who had stood by Gabriel for decades.
Harper stood in front of the full-length mirror in the conservatory's dressing room, wearing a fitted lace wedding gown with a flowing silk train. Her hair was styled in soft, elegant waves, pinned back with a pearl comb that had belonged to Gabriel’s late mother.
The door opened, and Marcus walked in, wearing a pristine black tuxedo. The big man looked visibly moved, holding a small velvet box.
"Miss Harper," Marcus said softly, his voice thick with uncharacteristic emotion. "The Boss asked me to give you this before the ceremony."
Harper opened the box. Inside lay a delicate platinum necklace holding a single, flawless teardrop diamond that sparkled under the room's lights.
"He told me to tell you," Marcus added, a warm smile breaking across his scarred face, "that this is the last tear you will ever shed in this life."
Harper brought her hand to her chest, her eyes glistening. "Thank you, Marcus. For everything you’ve done for us."
"It's my honor, ma'am," Marcus said sincerely, offering her his arm. "Now, if you're ready, there's a very impatient man waiting for you at the altar."
Harper smiled brightly, slipping her arm through his. "Lead the way."
As the double glass doors opened, the string quartet began to play a soft, romantic melody.
Gabriel stood at the end of the white aisle, dressed in a sharp black tuxedo. The moment his eyes caught Harper walking toward him, the legendary composure of the Boston crime boss completely vanished. His breath hitched in his throat, his eyes fixed entirely on her as if she were the only light in the universe.
Beside Gabriel stood Noah, wearing a matching tiny tuxedo, holding the velvet ring pillow with supreme pride.
Marcus escorted Harper to the altar, gently placing her hand into Gabriel’s.
Gabriel took her hand, his fingers warm and reassuring. "You take my breath away," he whispered, his voice rough with emotion.
"You're not so bad yourself, Mr. Ashford," she whispered back.
The officiant began the service, but for Harper and Gabriel, the rest of the world dissolved into quiet background noise. When the time came for their vows, Gabriel spoke first, holding both of her hands in his.
"Harper, I spent my entire life believing that love was a weakness—a liability that enemies could use against you," Gabriel said, staring deep into her eyes. "You proved me wrong the moment you stepped into my life. You brought light into my darkness, peace into my war, and gave me a family I never believed I deserved. I give you my life, my heart, and my unconditional protection, today and forever."
Harper smiled, tears of joy slipping down her cheeks. "Gabriel, when I came to this house, I was broken, exhausted, and running out of hope. You didn't just give me shelter; you gave me strength. You fought for me when I had nothing left, and you showed me what it truly means to be loved. I promise to stand by your side, to love you fiercely, and to build a life of truth and joy with you, forever."
"By the power vested in me," the officiant announced warmly, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Gabriel, you may kiss your bride."
May you like
Gabriel didn't wait. He pulled Harper into his arms, dipping her slightly as he pressed his lips to hers in a passionate, lingering kiss that sealed their vows forever.
The room erupted into cheers and applause, with Noah shouting loudest of all.
