Chapter 20 - The Light on the HillFive years later.

The annual Ashford Estate Gala was in full swing, but unlike the dark, tense gatherings of Gabriel’s past, the grand mansion on Beacon Hill was filled with bright laughter, classical piano music, and genuine warmth.
Prominent charity leaders, university professors, legal aid directors, and local families gathered throughout the grand ballrooms to celebrate the six-year anniversary of the foundation, which had now helped thousands of women and children across the country.
Upstairs, in the quiet sanctuary of the second-floor library, six-year-old Grace sat at a low oak table, carefully coloring a picture of a sailboat, while fourteen-year-old Noah—now a tall, sharp young man attending a prestigious academy in Boston—helped her pick out the right crayons.
Harper stood near the double doors of the library, wearing an elegant emerald green gown. Her hair was styled in timeless waves, and the antique diamond ring on her hand sparkled under the warm chandelier light.
Gabriel walked up behind her, stepping into the quiet room, his charcoal tuxedo fitting his broad frame impeccably. Though a few strands of silver now touched his dark hair at the temples, his pale blue eyes were bright, clear, and full of life.
He wrapped one arm around Harper’s waist, pulling her flush against his side.
"Guests are asking for the hostess downstairs," Gabriel murmured playfully into her hair.
"Let them wait five minutes," Harper smiled, resting her head against his shoulder as they watched Noah patienty guide Grace with her drawing. "I like watching our world right here."
Gabriel looked at his son, his daughter, and then down at the breathtaking woman in his arms.
Twenty years ago, he had believed his destiny was written in blood and shadow on the waterfronts of Boston. He had built walls, collected power, and shut out the world to survive.
Now, looking around the bright, warm halls of his home, he knew the truth: true power wasn't found in fear or control. It was found in the strength to protect the people you love, the courage to leave the shadows behind, and the grace to build a life of truth and purpose.
"Are you happy, Harper?" Gabriel asked softly, his voice rich with deep, enduring love.
Harper looked up at him, reaching up to gently trace the line of his jaw before pressing a warm, lingering kiss to his lips.
"I am complete, Gabriel," she whispered softly. "We all are."
