Chapter 11 - The Glass Tower ConfrontationAt 8:00 AM on Monday morning, the sunrise cast a pale, sharp gold across the glass facade of Vance Development’s fifty-story headquarters in downtown Seattle.

Arthur Vance sat behind his massive black-granite desk on the executive floor, sipping espresso while reviewing a set of commercial land acquisition blueprints.

The double doors of his office swung open without warning.

Arthur looked up, annoyance tightening his features—which quickly hardened into stone when he saw Julian step into the room. Behind Julian walked Clara, clutching a briefcase, and Leo Miller.

"Julian," Arthur said, setting his cup down with a sharp clink. "You turned our wedding reception into a humiliation for the Montgomery family, vanished for forty-eight hours, and now you barge into my office with a private investigator? Have you completely lost your senses?"

Julian didn't answer right away. He walked slowly across the plush rug, stopped at the edge of the granite desk, and tossed the leather-bound folder onto the polished stone.

"I found the Spokane facility receipts, Dad," Julian said, his voice terrifyingly calm. "I found the forged divorce filings from 1994. And I spent the weekend with Evelyn Mercer."

Arthur’s face twitched, a micro-expression of pure panic flashing across his eyes before he smoothed it over with a cold, dismissive sneak.

"I see," Arthur said smoothly, leaning back in his leather chair. "The old woman got into your head with fabricated documents. Julian, you're an attorney—you know how easy it is to forge old paper trails. I put that woman in a medical retreat thirty years ago because she suffered a severe psychotic break after you were born. She was a danger to you. I paid her medical bills for decades out of Christian charity."

"You had her car rammed off the road on Highway 99," Clara interjected, her voice shaking with righteous fury as she stepped beside Julian. "You bribed corrupt doctors to keep her medicated so she couldn't contest your marriage to my aunt's family line! I’ve already shown these files to my father, Arthur."

Arthur froze. His gaze snapped to Clara, his knuckles turning white as he gripped his armrests.

"Your father won't risk the Montgomery name over ancient history, Clara," Arthur warned, his voice dropping into a dangerous whisper.

"My father pulled our firm's fifty-million-dollar credit line from Vance Development three hours ago," Clara replied flatly.

Julian leaned over the desk, looking his father dead in the eye. "You have four hours to sign a full corporate resignation, surrender your voting shares to a independent board, and execute a formal settlement establishing a ten-million-dollar trust for Evelyn. Do it quietly, or we hand everything to the District Attorney."

Arthur looked at his son for a long, silent moment. Then, slowly, a cold, ruthless smile spread across his face.

"You really think you can destroy me, Julian?" Arthur whispered. "I built you. I built this city. You have no idea what I am capable of when threatened."
