Chapter 10 - The Fallen CrownCameras flashed violently, filling the room with strobe-like light as every reporter turned toward the back aisle.

Richard’s voice caught in his throat. His knuckles turned white against the edges of the podium. "Elena... this is a private board briefing. You shouldn't be here—"
"I own the building, Richard," Elena’s voice rang out, clear, resonant, and amplified by the microphone Thomas held for her as she moved smoothly down the center aisle. "And I own every share of the stock you claim to protect."
She stopped at the foot of the stage, looking up at Richard and Victoria with a cold, piercing gaze.
"You told the press I was mentally unfit to manage my estate," Elena said, her words echoing through the public address system. "You told the court I was delusional. But while you were filing fake guardianship petitions, my forensic team was tracking forty-three million dollars transferred from Vance Global accounts into seven shell companies registered under Sterling Law."
Gasps rippled through the audience. Reporters began shouting questions, typing furiously on their laptops.
Victoria’s face drained of all color. "That's a lie! She's making this up!" Victoria shrieked, taking a frantic step toward the edge of the stage. "She's unstable!"
Thomas Wright stepped forward, pulling a thick stack of certified bank records and federal search warrants from his leather bag.
"These documents were signed two hours ago by the United States Attorney for the Western District of Washington," Thomas announced loudly to the press. "They detail grand larceny, corporate tax evasion, and wire fraud committed by Richard Vance and assisted by Victoria Sterling."
One of the federal marshals stepped up onto the stage, holding out a pair of steel handcuffs.
"Richard Vance, Victoria Sterling," the marshal announced firmly. "You are under arrest for federal wire fraud and conspiracy."
The auditorium exploded into chaos.
Victoria let out a sharp scream as a female agent stepped forward to grab her wrists. "Get your hands off me! Do you know who my father is?!"
Richard didn't say a word. He collapsed onto his knees right beside the podium—the exact same way he had knelt on the cold marble floor of the Grand Oak lobby days before.
Elena sat quietly in her wheelchair at the foot of the stage, watching as the handcuffs clicked around their wrists.
As the marshals led the disgraced pair past her down the center aisle in front of dozens of snapping cameras, Victoria looked down at Elena, her eyes filled with tears of pure terror and utter humiliation.

Elena leaned forward slightly, her voice quiet enough for only Victoria to hear:
"People like you dirty my company."
