Around the table sat four top forensic accountants, two digital security analysts, and Thomas Wright. Laptops hummed, throwing cool blue light across spreadsheets detailing hundreds of shell companies, wire transfers, and falsified construction invoices.
"It’s a classic embezzlement scheme," explained Sarah Jenkins, the lead forensic accountant, pointing to a complex flow chart projected on the wall. "Richard set up seven dummy corporations in the Cayman Islands under the guise of imported building materials for the Grand Oak renovation. Over three years, he funneled forty-three million dollars out of your trust."
"Did he act alone?" Elena asked, leaning forward.
"No," Sarah answered, clicking to the next slide. "The shell companies were set up using legal documentation drafted by Sterling Law Group—the firm owned by Victoria Sterling's father."
Elena let out a quiet, bitter breath. "So Victoria wasn't just an arrogant socialite looking down on a woman in a wheelchair. She was actively helping Richard steal my family's legacy."
"We have enough paper evidence to file criminal charges," Thomas said firmly. "We can take this straight to the District Attorney's financial crimes division."
"Not yet," Elena countered, her voice carrying an absolute authority that made everyone in the room sit up straight. "If we file charges now, Richard’s legal team will stall the case in probate court using their guardianship petition. They will drag my mental health through the mud for months while trying to liquidate offshore assets."
