Chapter 20 - The Warmth of MarbleThe evening sun cast a soft, golden light through the soaring stained-glass windows of the grand lobby.

The visitors had gone home, and the estate was peaceful and quiet. Elena rolled her wheelchair to the center of the room, stopping at the exact spot where she had fallen months ago.

She looked down at the polished marble floor.

It no longer felt cold or hostile. The memory of humiliation, of harsh laughter and cruel cruelty, had been completely washed away, replaced by the warmth of thousands of lives saved and comforted within these walls.

A young woman in a nurse's uniform walked up beside her, carrying a clipboard. "Miss Vance, the last intake for the evening has been processed. Is there anything else you need before we close the main doors?"

Elena looked around her home—a place built on her grandfather's ambition, saved from greedy predators, and now dedicated entirely to serving others.

She smiled gently, her dark eyes shining with deep, absolute peace.

"No, thank you," Elena answered softly, looking out at the golden sunset over the estate gardens. "Everything is exactly where it belongs."
