Chapter 13 - The Confrontation in MaineTwo days later, Alexander’s private helicopter landed on the fog-draped lawns of the Sterling estate in Bar Harbor, Maine.

Margaret Sterling was sitting on the oceanfront veranda, wrapped in a cashmere shawl, when Alexander pushed open the glass doors. He didn't greet her. He simply tossed a thick manila folder containing Dr. Hayes's signed affidavit onto the glass table.

"You hid the truth from me for three years," Alexander said, his voice flat and void of any warmth.

Margaret looked at the file, her posture remaining stiff, though her hands trembled slightly as she adjusted her teacup. "I did what was necessary for the family line, Alexander. That night was a disaster. Your wife was weak, and that impudent student nurse dared to talk back to me in a hospital corridor!"

"She tried to save my wife's life while you treated a human being like an incubator!" Alexander roared, the sound echoing over the crashing ocean waves below.

Margaret stood up, her eyes flashing with pride. "I protected the Sterling legacy! I saved Noah!"

"No," Alexander said, taking a step back as if looking at a stranger. "Elena saved Noah. She held him in the dark while you were busy covering up your coldness. You banished her, you forced her into poverty, and then you tried to replace her with women who only wanted my fortune."

He pulled a legal document from his inner coat pocket and placed it beside the affidavit.

"This is a permanent severance of your trust distributions," Alexander stated coldly. "You will remain on this estate in Maine. You are stripped of all voting rights in the Sterling corporation, and you will never set foot near my son again."

Margaret sank back into her chair, realizing too late that her obsession with control had finally cost her everything.
